COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Families are encouraged to make a full day of Colorado Day celebrations on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, by visiting multiple events across Colorado Springs in honor of Colorado’s 150th birthday.
Residents and visitors are invited to begin the day at the Pikes Peak Diversity Council’s Everybody Welcome™ Cultural Heritage Festival, an official Colorado Springs event celebrating Colorado’s birthday.
The free, family-friendly festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Armstrong Hall and Tava Quad at Colorado College, located at 14 E. Cache La Poudre St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
From there, families can continue exploring downtown Colorado Day celebrations by using The ZEB, Mountain Metropolitan Transit’s free downtown shuttle, which provides convenient service through the heart of downtown Colorado Springs.
The Everybody Welcome™ Cultural Heritage Festival honors the inclusive motto of Fannie Mae Duncan’s Cotton Club, a legendary Colorado Springs jazz nightclub that welcomed patrons of all races during the Civil Rights era. Duncan’s simple but powerful invitation — “Everybody Welcome” — continues to serve as a local symbol of courage, hospitality, culture, and community connection.
This year’s festival theme, “History Speaks, Future Listens,” aligns with the historic milestones of Colorado 150 and America 250. The festival invites residents, families, students, visitors, and community members to celebrate the people, cultures, traditions, and stories that have shaped Colorado Springs, the Pikes Peak region, Colorado, and the nation.
Festival highlights include:
Live music, traditional dance, and cultural performances
Immersive cultural villages and ethnic food options
Craft vendors, health booths, and education zones
Interactive children’s passport activities
Family-friendly entertainment and community engagement
After beginning the day at Everybody Welcome™, families are encouraged to continue the celebration at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum’s free Colorado Day event, featuring live music, food trucks, family activities, birthday cake, and the opening of its new exhibition, “Freedom to Thrive: The American Experiment in Colorado Springs.” The exhibition centers on stories examining opportunities and obstacles to freedom in the Colorado Springs community.
The day will conclude with the United We Rock Festival at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, featuring live music, living history, and local flavor in a one-of-a-kind community celebration honoring Colorado’s 150th anniversary.
“Colorado Day is an opportunity to celebrate the people, places, and stories that have shaped Colorado Springs and our state,” said Cultural Services Manager Matt Mayberry. “Whether you're welcoming the day from the summit of Pikes Peak, exploring our community's history at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, or celebrating with friends and neighbors at the United We Rock Festival, we invite everyone to join us in honoring Colorado's past while looking ahead to its future.”
To make the day easier for families, The ZEB offers free downtown shuttle service along Tejon Street between Cache La Poudre and Rio Grande streets, with stops near Colorado College, Weidner Field, the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, and other downtown destinations. Pickups run every 7 to 10 minutes, depending on the day and time.
On Saturdays, The ZEB operates from 8 a.m. to midnight, giving families a convenient way to move between downtown Colorado Day events without having to repark.
